Kali Hart is the most fruit-forward expression in our portfolio. Approachable and bright with a beautiful garnet color in the glass, our 2018 Pinot Noir is ripe and intense. Aromas of Bing cherry, cola, boysenberry and hints of vanilla lift from the glass, and layers of rich blackberries are underscored by soft, silky tannins. A luscious finish follows with accents of minerality, dried herbs and French oak. Kali Hart Pinot Noir is an elegant representation of its cool climate terroir of our estate vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands in California. The 2018 growing season was consistently mild, allowing fruit to ripen gradually on the vine and develop complex flavor. August and September brought moderate weather more in line with previous harvests. October rain quenched the soil without slowing harvest. Wines from 2018 vintage are showing highly detailed flavors, balance and intensity. We sourced fruit from our Sleepy Hollow Vineyard and the Olson Ranch to give this Pinot Noir complexity. Located on a picturesque benchland only 13 miles from Monterey Bay, Sleepy Hollow is one of the first vineyards planted in the Santa Lucia Highlands. With a long, cool growing season, the grapes hang on the vine longer, developing intensity and depth. The Olson Ranch is located at the southern tip of the Santa Lucia Highlands. The rolling hills, limestone-laced soils and afternoon winds yield grapes that accentuate the intensity of Pinot Noir. MacMurray Estate Vineyards Russian River Valley Pinot Noir opens with aromas of dark berries and violets. The palate is plush and silky, as delicate cherry, plum and raspberry characteristics meld with lavender, rose petal and subtle hints of earth. Notes of vanilla, oak and spice are highlighted on the finish of this delightfully refined Pinot Noir.

Dried Violet, Dark Berries, Mocha
Our 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a delightfully approachable wine. Aromas of crushed dried violet, dark berries and mocha greet the nose. Textured layers of black cherry and black raspberries meld together with notes of oak and vanilla. The silky palate leads to a lingering, vibrant finish. Following harvest, the Pinot Noir grapes were cold soaked for at least two days to enhance extraction of the variety’s vibrant color and delicate flavors. Burgundian yeast selections were introduced for primary fermentation. Malolactic fermentation occurred on light lees in barrel, which promoted a seamless integration of wine and oak. The wine was aged sur lie to create a round, soft mouthfeel, and racked in July to form the base of the wine to marry flavors. A complex oak aging regime of new and used barrels imparted sweet aromas of vanilla framed by hints of toast and roasted nuts.

From the first swirl, our Foggy Bend Vineyard Pinot Noir shows off something special. The wine begins with alluring aromatics of plum, blackberry, thyme and freshly unearthed black truffle. On the complex, food-friendly palate, inviting notes of dark cherry, pomegranate juice and tart blueberry blend seamlessly with herbal and earthy hints of fennel, pine, cinnamon stick and nutmeg. Showing well at release, the wine’s crisp acidity will allow it to age gracefully over the next several years. Pair this wine with grilled salmon drizzled with oven-roasted tomato sauce or pork chops topped with black olive tapenade and fennel- cous cous pilaf. For a cheese pairing, try a nettle-wrapped soft cheese with plum compote.

This Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a confident, polished expression of Pinot Noir from this renowned Central Coast region. A blend of select vineyard blocks within Olsen Ranch Vineyard as well as a small portion from Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, the wine opens with signature floral characteristics, including lavender, rose petal and violet, which mingle with layers of blackberry, boysenberry, cherry, raspberry and plum. Soft and silky with attractive depth and vibrancy, subtle hints of dusty earth, truffle and clove feature on the long finish.

This wine opens with Pinot Noir’s distinguishing bright plum and cherry notes, but then it takes a turn. The flavors are bold and more intense than the average Pinot Noir, with characteristics of summer blackberry, pomegranate and dried rose petals. Oak aging imparts hints of vanilla, baking spice and freshly roasted coffee beans. A hint of cocoa, plush tannins and a round mouthfeel lead to a satisfying finish.

The MacMurray Estate Vineyards Central Coast Pinot Noir is deep ruby in color with aromas of ripe red berries, cinnamon and toast on the nose. Nuances of ripe red cherry, pomegranate and raspberry on the forefront of the palate are accented by warm vanilla spice notes. Beautifully balanced, this silky, plush Pinot Noir delivers a layered wine with attractive depth before a long, lingering finish. This Pinot Noir was crafted from a selection of premier vineyards in the Central Coast. Each lot is fermented separately to finely curate our classic MacMurray Pinot Noir style. Selecting vineyards from Monterrey and San Luis Obispo counties gives us depth of flavor with nuanced layers of minerality, earth, and luscious fruit The 2017 harvest was early and light, delivering superior quality fruit. The season began with abundant winter rainfall that replenished soils, followed by warm temperatures in spring and summer. Heat spikes in late August and early September progressed the steady harvest pace but cooled in mid-September, allowing the grapes to mature and ripen evenly. These elements helped produce small berries with excellent color and concentration. The vintage is notable for its concentrated, fruit-forward characters, balanced acidity and structure. The grapes were destemmed, but not crushed, and cold soaked for up to five days to enhance the extraction of color and flavor. We fermented in upright stainless-steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 83°F using yeast selections AMH, RC212 and D254. This wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was French oak aged to develop a smooth and rich mouthfeel.
