Approachable and bright, our J California Pinot Gris opens with fragrant aromas of citrus, stonefruit and white florals. Fruit-forward and layered, notes of ripe pear, apricot, white peach and lime on the palate blend with hints of wet river rock and honeysuckle before a crisp finish. Pair this appealing Pinot Gris with grilled fish or chicken, or a creamy chèvre topped with citrus marmalade. The 2018 growing season in California was excellent, with moderate, even temperatures throughout the season before a well-paced harvest. A cool spring extended bloom on the vines, but fruit set was consistent. The long growing season brought warm, clear, sunny days and crisp, cool nights, with few heat spikes or cold spells. These ideal conditions gave clusters ample time to hang on the vine and develop deep, mature, layered flavors with beautiful acidity. The evenly-paced harvest began a few weeks later than recent vintages, allowing grape growers to bring in fruit at optimal ripeness with clean, balanced fruit with bright character and exquisite complexity.
