Crafted from up to 100 individual small lots, the appealing 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir captures the classic characteristics of this renowned variety and region. Ghost Pines Pinot Noir V21 750ML

This wine opens with Pinot Noir’s distinguishing bright plum and cherry notes, but then it takes a turn. The flavors are bold and more intense than the average Pinot Noir, with characteristics of summer blackberry, pomegranate and dried rose petals. Oak aging imparts hints of vanilla, baking spice and freshly roasted coffee beans. A hint of cocoa, plush tannins and a round mouthfeel lead to a satisfying finish.

Dark Horse Pinot Noir V22 750ML

The 2022 Dark Horse Pinot Noir is a smooth, medium-bodied wine from California. Notes of Bing cherry and raspberry meet aromas of shaved cedar in this bright wine. A polished mouthfeel leads to a lingering finish with a touch of strawberry. Viticulture Notes The 2022 growing season was warmer than normal with average crop yields. Increasing temperatures hastened harvest during August, which produced smaller yields of highly concentrated berries. Winemaking Notes We harvested the grapes for this wine during the cool evening hours. Grapes were then brought to the winery, destemmed, and gently crushed before being fermented at temperatures of between 88°-92°F. This warmer fermentation served to further concentrate flavors and extract intense color from the skins. The wine was aged on oak post fermentation to add complexity and balance.

Edna Valley Winemaker Series Pinot Noir V20 750ML

We sourced our 2020 Winemaker Series Pinot Noir from the Rancho Real Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, which imparts robust characteristics to this wine. A beautiful garnet color shows in the glass, revealing aromas of wild raspberry and plum with underlying notes of mushroom and forest floor. The aromas echo through the palate with earthy underlying notes subtly lifting the dark fruit notes. Silky tannins deliver rich layers of baked dark cherry and plum with a dash of nutmeg. Hints of baked fruit reminiscent of a bubbling baked pie creates a decadent finish.

Viticulture Notes: We selected the majority of the grapes for Apothic Pinot Noir from the unique Lodi-Delta region in California. With its cool evenings and warm days, Lodi is known as a producer of fragrant, concentrated, and silky textured fruit. California’s 2022 growing season was cool and mild, with a heat spell in August that resulted in an earlier than average harvest. Wines from this vintage showcase vibrant acidity and concentrated flavors. Winemaking Notes: We selected Pinot Noir grapes from Lodi for their rich, ripe fruit characteristics and soft, approachable tannins. Syrah complements the dark cherry flavors with soft blueberry notes. A hint of Grenache adds intensity to the fruit expression, while the unique Graciano variety was blended in to brighten the acidity and add notes of red currant. The grapes were destemmed, lightly crushed and cold soaked overnight to encourage extraction of the fruit’s intriguing color and structure.

MacMurray Estate Vineyards Central Coast Pinot Noir V21 750ML

Our smooth and flavorful Pinot Noir is an approachable and food-friendly taste of California’s scenic Central Coast. The majority of the grapes for our Pinot Noir were sourced from Edna Valley and Monterey County in California’s scenic Central Coast. The warm days and cool nights characteristic of these growing regions are influenced by their close proximity to the Pacific Coast, allowing the fruit to linger on the vine until ripening to perfection. The 2021 growing season was long, clear and cool, idyllic conditions to allow the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly, developing rich, layered flavors while maintaining incredible structure and balance. Overall quality in 2021 was outstanding.

A focus on geographic diversity has been a principle of ours or many years. Sourcing grapes from across California gives us the flexibility to produce wines when some regions are affected by forces outside of our control. But when the entire state experiences a great vintage, the diversity can sometimes be a problem…a good problem. Extensive tastings of trial blends are difficult when each blend is great for specific reasons. But in the end, we all agreed on the blend in front of you, comprised of fruit from across California — Sonoma Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands, Sta. Rita Hills and many more. WINEMAKER’S NOTES Crisp crimson in the glass, the 2021 Slander opens with notes of wild strawberry, pomegranate, Bing cherry and cedar. Secondary aromatics abound, with hints of redwood grove underbrush, white pepper and earth. Delicate on entry, the palate is flooding with red plum, cherry cola, rhubarb and spices. A touch of cocoa powder on the finish, the wine closes with confident acidity and length.

Our 2021 Reserve Pinot Noir is a classic Central Coast, cool climate Pinot Noir. Rich aromas of the creamy vanilla and cracked sugar of creme brulee meet plump baked cherries in this wine. Beautiful layers of raspberry, cherry and pomegranate give the wine a plush, round mouthfeel accented with taps of allspice and pepper. The finish is lingering with a dollop of caramel at the end.

Hahn SLH Pinot Noir V21 750ML

Vivid red ruby in the glass, this wine opens with aromas of red fruit, cherry, blackberry and hints of earthiness, delicate toast and vanilla spice. The palate is rich, with refined silky tannins, medium acidity and flavors of cherry, red plums, raspberry and subtle notes of allspice on a long elegant finish. The winter rainfall was slightly below average, but we were able to compensate with early spring irrigation to fill soil profiles before budbreak. Warm spring temperatures aided vine growth and they were able to reach max canopy height. Summer temperatures heated up and slowed down vine growth as vines transitioned into fruit development. Weather leading into harvest was relatively cool and uneventful, which allowed for gradual ripening of the fruit. It was another remarkable growing season in the Santa Lucia Highlands, resulting in wines with beautiful color, concentrated flavors, great structure and naturally balanced acidity. The 2021 vintage was crafted using small-lot winemaking techniques to capture a true expression of each vineyard block. Only estate vineyard lots with consistent superior characteristics were selected to ensure exceptional quality of this blend. The grapes were harvested during cool mornings, brought to the winery, destemmed into open-top stainless-steel tanks, cold-soaked and fermented on the skins for 10 days. The wine was then pressed off, settled and racked into a selection of small 60-gallon French oak barrels where it was aged for 14 months. When the wine was ready to be blended, our winemaker selected only the finest barrels that exemplify the aromas and flavors of the Santa Lucia Highlands.

On the palate, soft and delicate flavors of cherry and raspberry are followed by creamy nuances and spicy minerality, culminating in a pleasantly long finish. VINEYARDS Grapes for this wine are sourced from Ste. Philippe Vineyard – our certified sustainable estate vineyard in the Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey County. Located south of the Santa Lucia Highlands, Ste. Philippe sits in an ancient, dry riverbed with well-drained, sandy loam soils. Coastal influence and cool winds from Monterey Bay contribute to an extended growing season which ensures complexity and intensity of the fruit. WINEMAKING Picked in early morning, the Pinot Noir grapes were destemmed into stainless steel tanks and fermented for about two weeks. During that time, the wine was pumped over several times daily to maximize color, aromatics and flavor extraction. After the juice was pressed on the skins, it was settled and racked into French oak barrels to age for 11 months.
