Our top expression of Sauvignon Blanc, Windward delivers wonderful aromatic intensity, a generous, layered taste profile and classic Marlborough style. Aromas of white peach, kiwi and lemongrass carry through to the silky palate, blending seamlessly with hints of passion fruit, citrus and crushed fresh green herbs. An attractive mineral backbone and suggestions of sea spray add appealing texture, finishing long and bright. This memorable, food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc can be paired with creamy cheeses, green salads, fresh seafood or grilled chicken. <br><br> <b>VITICULTURE NOTES</b><br> Grown in four exclusive vineyard sites across Marlborough, 55% from three sub-regions within the Wairau Valley (22% Renwick, 22% Spring Creek, 11% Lower Wairau) and 45% from two separate blocks of a single vineyard in Awatere Valley. <br><br> The 2022 growing season was cool and long, offering optimal conditions for ripening while preserving excellent acidity. A wet winter gave soils ample water resources for the season ahead. Spring arrived with ideal conditions, giving us wonderful fruit set and healthy yields. Summer was dry and lengthy, allowing fruit to hang on the vines while ripening slowly. Grapes were harvested later than usual, delivering fruit with flavor maturity and concentration while retaining pure fruit expression. <br><br> <b>WINEMAKING NOTES</b><br> Windward Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of our five best lots of Sauvignon Blanc from the 2022 vintage. Both in the vineyards and in our cellar, these standout blocks stood out above the rest for their aromatic intensity, layered flavor development and incredible structure. Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested in cool conditions, then pressed immediately with minimal skin contact. After cold settling, the clear juice was fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks at very low temperatures with selected yeast strains to preserve inherent varietal characteristics and classic Marlborough flavors. These lots sat on light yeast lees in tank for up to six weeks prior to blending

Our crisp, bright and refreshing and California Sauvignon Blanc opens with generous aromas of green apple, tropical fruit and citrus. These are carried through to the palate, complemented by layered notes of ripe pear, fresh-cut lime, ripe melon and pineapple. A touch of weight on the palate adds to the depth of flavor, while the crisp acidity drives a long, fruit-forward finish. This wine is unoaked and does not go through malolactic fermentation, giving this a vibrant, fruit-driven taste profile.

Our 2022 Clos du Bois Pinot Noir is an elegant red wine with a silky mouthfeel from California. Showing garnet red in the glass, our Pinot Noir opens with aromas of wild strawberry, Bing cherry and a hint of caramel. Layers of raspberry and cherry cola are touched by notes of vanilla and toasty oak on the palate.

Black ink that coats the glass and transforms it into an altered state , the 2021 Machete opens with decadent aromas of blue and black fruits, charred meat, a hint of funk and troves of minerality. The entry is more dense than expected with notes of black plum, other stone fruits and essence of game but yet tempered and balanced by candied orange peel and leveled acidity . Typical tannins for this Petite Sirah-based wine, the wine closes with voluptuous texture and intensity.

Our smooth and inviting Russian River Valley Chardonnay showcases the best of this classic cool-climate region. Appealing aromas of florals and citrus open at first pour, while the layered, flavorful palate adds notes of white peach, pear, pineapple and fresh-cut Meyer lemon. Subtle accents of toasted hazelnut, vanilla and gingersnap add rich complexity and depth, a hallmark of the wine’s French oak aging. Try this beautifully balanced, food-friendly Chardonnay with wild mushroom pasta in a light cream sauce or Dungeness crab cake in a candied ginger hollandaise, topped with fresh green herbs. The most widely planted white wine grape in California, Chardonnay is expressed in many different styles due to the state’s varied regions. Microclimates and unique soil types allow us to source Chardonnay that tell us about place, helping us achieve our goal of showing what California has to offer. Before everything is blended, each lot expresses where it comes from—some are acid-forward and mineral-focused, while others are robust, ripe and fruit-forward. But through blending trials, we’re able to bring them together and form a piece of liquid art. Sourced from the Russian River Valley, Atlas Peak, Santa Maria Valley and other prestigious AVAs across the state, Mannequin is our manifestation of California Chardonnay. <br><br> <b>WINEMAKER’S NOTES</b><br> A blinding white gold and a chartreuse shimmer in the glass, the 2021 Mannequin opens with opulent, beguiling aromatics. Ripe golden apple, concentrated jasmine, citrus notes and a touch of cream and fresh brioche emerge. The entry is bright yet with a bit of weight; similar aromatic notes come through on the palate supplemented by rich honeydew and green apple. Tempered by a prominent vein of acidity, the wine closes at length with a seamless silk-like quality, finishing with pleasing minerality

Refreshingly crisp and wonderfully layered, J Cuvée 20 Brut expertly balances bright fruit notes, rich brioche toast characteristics and a lively, memorable finish. Hints of fresh-picked pear, white peach and citrus at first taste evolve into richer, deeper notes of baked apple, lemon curd, crème brûlée and spice. A subtle touch of toasted pastry crust at the finish is an indication of the years this sparkling spent aging in our cellars before release.

Bold, daring and velvety smooth, our 2021 Apothic Dark offers an unforgettable taste of the darkest of fruits. Notes of blueberry, blackberry and plum are accented by dark chocolate and spice on the rich, plush palate. Hints of coffee and mocha help round out the wine’s full body and long, lingering finish. <br><br> <b>Viticulture Notes</b><br> We selected the majority of the grapes for Apothic Dark from Lodi in California’s Delta region. California’s 2021 growing season was cool and mild, with a heat spell in August that resulted in an earlier than average harvest. Wines from this vintage showcase vibrant acidity and concentrated flavors. <br><br> <b>Winemaking Notes</b><br> We harvested a majority of the grapes for the Apothic Dark at night in cool temperatures to preserve the character of the fruit, then we fermented the varieties between 88° to 90°F. The blend, primarily Petite Sirah and Teroldego with other dark-skinned varieties in support, was crafted to showcase a silky mouthfeel with hints of dark chocolate and spice

Our California Merlot is a juicy and complex wine, featuring aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and Tahitian vanilla. The plush, full-bodied palate offers notes black cherry and wild blueberry with a hint of spice on the lingering finish.

It's rare to find a wine from the Napa Valley composed of all five Bordeaux-style varietals, but for many years, that has been Papillon's focus. The raw strength and prestige of Cabernet Sauvignon buttressed by the opulence of Merlot, the spiciness of Cabernet Franc, the depth of Malbec and the sheer unctuousness of Petit Verdot come together seamlessly. The 2021 Papillon is sourced from Napa Valley growers we've worked with for decades-Stagecoach Vineyard, Indian Joe, Morisoli Vineyard and even a touch from the Monte Rosso Vineyard over on Moon Mountain, just to name a few. <br><br><i>Our good friend and fellow winemaker, Greg Gorman, photographed the label.</i><br><br> The 2021 Papillon fills the glass with an unmistakable dark crimson, a flash of neon purple and a ruby rim. Tears move glacially and the wine opens with aromatics of boysenberry jam, violets, chocolate covered blueberry and hints of Cara Cara rind, graphite and brioche. The entry and mid-palate are bright throughout with considerable weight-tones of cassis, blackberry and baking spices flourish. Enveloping texture, chalky, drying tannins and an enduring finish bows out the wine.

Our 2022 GSM is a medium-bodied blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Aromas of violet, blueberry and a tap of white pepper rise from the glass. The mouthfeel is soft with layers of ripe raspberry and strawberry. Subtle hints of toasted oak and mocha pull through the finish.

At Edna Valley Vineyard, we craft balanced and elegant expressions of California. The cooling coastal influence extends our growing season, creating concentrated flavors. Our luscious and complex Pinot Noir has notes of plum and pomegranate that are nicely complemented by hints of spicy oak.
