Orin Swift 8 Years in the Desert 750ML 2019

Working with Zinfandel requires using the Goldilocks Principle: Pick it too early and you end up with a stemmy wine. Pick it too late and you risk a stuck fermentation. Pick it just right... well, what do you think? 2019 marks the third release of our eight-part passion play known as 8 Years in the Desert. As we meander through the coming years and remaining vintages, the wine, as well as the labels on the bottle, will continue to evolve. If we do our jobs right, the wine should only get better. The labels have a bit more of a pre-ordained nature — they’re all born from the original eight featured in the limited edition. Each vintage will revisit the original labels in sequential order. Some of you know them all, some of you only know label #1. Some will like what comes next, some will hate it. But suffice to say they are all cut from a similar cloth. As with the previous four vintages, our 2019 blend combines the heart and body of Zinfandel with the nuance and complexity of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Grenache. Sourced from quality vineyards like Monte Rosso, Bismark, Korte, and Frei Ranch, 8 Years in the Desert uses only our favorite lots of each grape. Double-blind tasted and aged over a ten-month period, we are very proud of our 2019 vintage and hope you enjoy it now and for many years to come. Evolving aromatics present themselves first with black and white pepper, then a ripe fruit core of brambly raspberry and sweet persimmon, finishing with savory notes of allspice, clove and fig leaf. Boisterous yet elegant on entry, the wine shows its plush layers with distinctive strawberry preserves, blackberry and raspberry pie topped with fresh crème. Round, ripe tannins close the palate menacingly, leaving one with a desperate thirst for more.

Athena Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2019 California Cabernet Sauvignon opens with intense aromas of blackberry and currants, while French oak nuances provide hints of clove and nutmeg. This is a full-bodied wine, packed with rich layers of dark fruit character and structured tannins.

La Marca Prosecco 750ML

Our La Marca Prosecco displays a pale, golden straw color, with a lively effervescence. It opens with aromas of fresh citrus, honey and white flowers. Orin Swift Mercury Head 750ML 2021

When we decided not to make Mercury Head in 2020, the anticipation for the next release was palpable. In the cellar, we were giddy, ready to assemble a blend worthy of the famed dimes. The 2021 vintage was fortuitous in both yield and quality, giving us a lot of components to make trial blends with. We’re very excited to bring back Mercury Head as 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from both the Stagecoach and Warnock Vineyards on Atlas Peak, the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford and the Taplin Vineyard in St. Helena. WINEMAKER’S NOTES An almost-black, opaque garnet core sit s in the glass with slow-moving tears falling down the sides. Immediate aromatic notes of ripe cassis, charred ribeye, sandalwood and freshly cut oak pilfer—breathe deeper for more. The first sip is a complex, layered conundrum of blackberry, black plum, fennel, licorice and dark chocolate. More sips peel back the layers to reveal a rich and balanced wine with a deep cassis core. A sweet linger on the finish closes the wine with softly textured chalky tannins.

Department 66 Grenache Cotes Catalanes V16 750ML

Vibrant red berry and fruit aromas with exotic cassis and cardamom spice. A round, rich texture and integrated tannins are balanced with ripe blueberry flavors and distinctive earth and herbal notes of garrigue, stone and schist.

J Vineyards Cuvee 20 NV 750ML

Our J Cuvée 20 Brut opens with nuanced aromas of toasted almond, followed by notes of Braeburn apple, dried cranberry and ginger snap. A delicate dance of bubbles leads to a soft palate with flavors of lemon meringue pie, as the wine’s creaminess is whisked away by a lively finish.

Apothic Brew 750ML

The limited release Apothic Brew is an innovative and bold red blend infused with cold brew coffee. This plush, full-bodied blend matches the concentrated dark fruit notes of red blends with the mocha and subtle chocolate characteristics of the cold brew. Hints of maple and toasted oak linger on the long finish, highlighted by the distinctive rich, smooth depth of cold brew coffee. Viticulture Notes: Grapes for Apothic Brew were grown in California’s consistently warm and sunny growing season. Ideal conditions for steady, full development, grapes were picked at optimum ripeness. Harvest was early, with low yields and small clusters, leading to outstanding, high quality grapes. The wine shows rich, intense concentration with bold structure and balance. Winemaking Notes: The grapes in Apothic Brew were harvested mostly at night in cool, crisp temperatures to preserve the rich, natural fruit character. Fermentation occurred at a maximum temperature of 88°F in a combination of cone sweeps and upright stainless steel tanks before undergoing malolactic fermentation. During aging, the wine was racked every two to three months. Cold brew coffee was infused into the blend before bottling. An additional two months of aging allowed the smooth, rich cold brew coffee to blend seamlessly with the bold fruit notes of the wine, while still retaining their unique characteristics.
