The key to this blend is balance. The Cabernet gives it typical blackberry, currant and herbal notes. The Pinotage gives it the undeniable smoky character made famous by South Africa’s native varietal. Rich and full-bodied. Holds its own next to fire-grilled meats.

Of note: The Cabernet and Pinotage grapes were crushed and fermented separately. Winemaker Andries Blake then tasted the final wines and settled on a rich blend of 64% Cabernet and 36% Pinotage for this well-balanced vintage.

    South Africa

Here is South Africa’s version of a great New World Chardonnay: fruit-driven, layers of citrus, apple and peach flavors. A hint of vanilla and a creamy texture. Winemaker Andries Blake set aside a third of the wine for malolactic fermentation, giving it a subtle richness. He also blended in a little Viognier, Semillon and Steen (South Africa’s Chenin Blanc) for complexity.

This Chardonnay loves food. We love it with fish. Give the seafood a touch of Cajun spice to balance the creaminess in the wine.

Sebeka's winemaker Andries Blake believes that it is important to honor South Africa’s 350-year winemaking heritage while appealing to today’s wine tastes. Andries believes that Sebeka’s great character and complexity showcases the natural beauty of the South Africa landscape.

Andries Blake’s 2008 Chenin Blanc , also known as “Steen” in South Africa, has intense citrus and tropical fruit aromas and a crisp, refreshing acidity. South African "Steen" is renowned as some of the world’s finest.

Sebeka, named for a South African cheetah, aims to evoke the natural beauty of the land in its wines. This Sauvignon Blanc is a testament to the cool climate vineyards in Breedekloof along the Western Cape. Fog from the cold ocean currents moving north from Antarctica and “Cape Doctor” cross winds from the Indian Ocean converge here to bring intense flavors to the grapes.

Fruit-forward style, with gooseberry, tropical fruit and herbal notes. Crisp and balanced. A subtle minerality on the finish.

This is one of two blends in the Sebeka lineup that incorporates South Africa’s signature varietal, Pinotage. The local grape lends a smoky character to the jammy blackberry flavors of the Shiraz. Winemaker Andries Blake used grapes from diverse growing areas throughout the Western Cape to give the finished wine depth and complexity.

Blackberry, cherry, red fruit and smoky earth flavors. A nice acidity tempered by a rich mouthfeel from malolactic fermentation.
