Sauvignon Blanc
The Grape. The Region.Sauvignon Blanc achieves its pinnacle of winemaking in both the Loire Valley region of France and the South Island of New Zealand. In California, Sauvignon Blanc has been planted since the 1970s and is second only to Chardonnay in popularity. This grape variety also is prevalent in South Africa, Italy, Spain and Austria.
The Sauvignon Blanc grape prefers a moderate, sunny climate, and produces a light- to medium-bodied wine with an electric mouthfeel.
Wine Style. Wine Flavor.
An aromatic white wine with high acidity, Sauvignon Blanc is known for its crisp nature. The lighter style exhibits flavors of apple, citrus and melon, and is often described as grassy or herbaceous. A full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc is more robust and complex.
