Riesling
The Grape. The Region. The preeminent grape variety in Germany, Riesling also thrives in Austria and the Alsace region of France. Fine examples of Riesling abound in the cool-climate regions of New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States.
Riesling produces a high-acid wine with intense aromatics and multi-faceted fruit flavors.
Wine Style. Wine Flavor.
Riesling is an elegant wine, typically characterized by fruit-first apricot and floral aromas, with rich, full-bodied flavors of citrus and ripe pear.
Riesling is typically fermented in a neutral vessel, such as stainless steel or cement, which allows its natural aromas and fruit flavors to flourish. Many winemakers leave residual sugar in Riesling to mitigate its searing acidity and achieve balance in the wine. While a dry Riesling might hint of orange blossom and honeysuckle, the same Riesling – influenced by residual sugar – will taste of orange and honey.
Sip. Eat.
Riesling is a perfect complement to spicy Asian cuisine, summer salads and fresh fruit.
