Pinot Noir
The Grape. The Region.A classic red grape variety in the Burgundy region of France, Pinot Noir thrives in cooler climates. While most of the world’s plantings are in France, Pinot Noir grows successfully in California, Oregon, Germany, New Zealand and the cool-climate Tasmania region of Australia.
Consistency eludes Pinot Noir, as it exhibits broad differences in color, aroma and flavor across wine producers. This grape variety tends to reflect variations across vintages and terroir, rendering it nearly impossible to characterize. However, regardless of where it is grown, Pinot Noir always expresses itself through texture. Often described in terms of fabric – silk, satin, taffeta, brushed cotton – Pinot Noir is a study in subtlety and nuance.
Wine Style. Wine Flavor.
Pinot Noir demonstrates low to moderate tannins and crisp acidity, fostering a sensory experience dominated by aroma and mouthfeel. Pinot Noir often exudes floral aromas of violet, complemented by berry, plum and cherry flavors.
Sip. Eat.
Pinot Noir pairs well with grilled seafood and light pasta dishes.
