The 2008 Alamos Chardonnay shows a medium yellow - greenish color. The wine presents a fresh aromatic profile with ripe citrus fruits layered with floral notes and a touch of vanilla. The mouthfeel is full yet clean and crisp, with pear and apple fruits, a touch of grapefruit and sweet allspice. The finish is bright and crisp with refreshing acidity and balance.

The 2008 Alamos Malbec has a dark, blackish purple color. The nose shows ripe black fruits, black pepper spice and floral notes. The mouthfeel is full yet soft and supple, with black raspberry and currant flavors mingled with notes of sweet spice and a touch of leather. The finish is long and persistent with soft, sweet tannins.

The 2007 Alamos Seleccion Malbec presents a deeply dark violet color with blackish tones. The nose is full of ripe black fruits with floral tones and touches of leather, vanilla, and spice. The mouthfeel is full yet supple, with juicy black raspberry, black cherry and black currant fruit layered with notes of violets, black pepper and anis. The finish is long and lingering, with soft, velvety tannins and bright, refreshing acidity.

Torrontés has a unique expression in Argentina and has often been called the country's signature white varietal. Alamos Torrontés captures all of the explosive aromatic character of this Argentine grape, with lively notes of citrus and peach fruit interwoven with delicate layers of jasmine blossom and fresh herbs. The wine is light and fresh on the palate with excellent balance and finishing with bright, crisp acidity.

The 2007 Apothic Red reveals intense fruit aromas and flavors of rhubarb and black cherry that are complemented by hints of mocha, chocolate, brown spice and vanilla. The plush, velvety mouthfeel and smooth finish round out this intriguing, full-bodied red blend.

Spirito Ballatore, the winemaker behind this incredible sparkler, has won hundreds of awards for his well-priced sparkling wine, since he introduced it in 1984. It’s not completely dry, but it’s not sweet either. Most of us say we like “dry” wine, but we really prefer a little sweetness to round out the flavors. We just think “dry” is more sophisticated. Get over it. Try this low-risk, high-reward sparkler.

If you like Asti-style sparklers, it’s time to think pink. This wine starts out as winemaker Spirito Ballatore’s classic Gran Spumante; then he blends it with red wine to create great color and flavors. With a touch of sweetness, this bubbly is balanced by the tannic components in the red blend.

Wine critics love this fun-loving line of wines, calling Barefoot “good and priced right…hard to beat.” We agree completely. The Barefoot sparkling wines are a relatively recent addition, but winemaker Jennifer Wall has been giving us great choices for nearly 20 years.

So, here in one bottle you have bubbles, a prestigious variety and a well-proven name. Go for it.

This Extra Dry Chardonnay—which is actually a bit less dry than the Brut—is proof positive that you can turn any event into an affordable celebration. The 2008 San Francisco International Wine Competition gave this wine a very respectable Silver Medal, but we think it‘s pure gold.
