Sauvignon Blanc began as a wild vine in southwestern France, and is now known to be a “parent” to the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. In California, this white (green, actually) grape ranks third in planted acres. That’s because it makes a nice wine.

Barefoot winemaker Jennifer Wall makes this wine in the style pioneered back in the late ‘60s: honeydew and pear, with a nice soft finish.

We open this bottle and hear a Tarantella in the air. This is what Pinot Grigio is supposed to do for you – a Mediterranean breeze off Italian shores. One of those food-friendly wines that can sit next to any plate. No dents in this wine.

Medium-bodied and very refreshing. Fresh tree fruit flavors with citrus piquancy. Nicely balanced, with a crisp finish.

Sauvignon Blanc means many things to many people: grassy, herbal, fruity, aromatic. The key to this wine is balance. All things in moderation and in place. This edition is tipped slightly toward the California “fruit forward” end of the spectrum. Still crisp and refreshing.

Flavors of honeydew melon, citrus and ripe apple. A little sweetness on the finish leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
